東芝は、動画を録画・再生できる携帯音楽プレーヤーを今年中に発売する。この分野で先行する米アップルコンピュータの「ｉＰｏｄ」などに対抗するためで、これに合わせ東芝ＥＭＩなどと共同で、歌手のプロモーションビデオや風景映像などを配信する仕組みを整える。 新製品は動画に対応した表示装置を備え、最大８０ギガバイト程度の駆動装置（ＨＤＤ）を内蔵する。数十時間分の動画が録画できるといい、価格は数万円程度になる見込み。
