Snocapは米国時間3日、SonyBMG Music Entertainmentとの間で、同社の楽曲をPtoPネットワーク経由で配信する契約と結んだことを明らかにした。Snocapは元祖Napsterの生みの親であるShawn Fanningが立ち上げた新会社。
Snocapは、ネット上で交換される楽曲を識別し、ファイルのやり取りを売上に結びつけるためのツール類を開発してきた。レコード会社各社は、Snocapの技術によって、無秩序なPtoPネットワークが、利幅が大きくApple ComputerのiTunesと比べて遜色ない音楽配信チャネルに変わる可能性があると考えている。
