シャープ株式会社は、FMトランスミッタを内蔵したシリコンオーディオプレーヤー「MP-A100/A200」を4月15日に発売する。メモリ容量256/512MBの2種類を用意し、いずれのモデルにもホワイトとレッドの2色のカラーバリエーションをラインナップする。価格はオープンプライスで、店頭予想価格は256MBモデルが15,000円前後、512MBモデルが25,000円前後の見込み。
外形寸法54×85.6×9.4mm(幅×奥行き×高さ)、充電池を含む重量70gの薄型シリコンオーディオプレーヤー。最大の特徴は本体にFMトランスミッタを内蔵したこと。イヤフォンで音楽を聴くだけでなく、再生音をFM電波として送信し、車内のカーステレオや室内のラジオで受信・再生できる。
再生対応フォーマットはMP3/WMAで、WMA DRMもサポートする。対応ビットレートはMP3が8～320kbps(VBR対応)、WMAが32～192kbps。ID3タグ表示もサポートしており、曲名やアーティスト名の日本語表示にも対応。歌詞表示もサポートし、WMAファイルの歌詞編集が行なえるソフトもバンドルされる。ソフトの対応OSはWindows XP。

MP-A100/200は、FMラジオにワイヤレス接続できる「FMトランスミッター」を搭載し、カーオーディオやオーディオ機器のスピーカーで楽しむことができる。SVGA(800×600ドット)表示のカラー液晶を搭載。10文字×5行表示が可能で歌詞データが保存されている場合は、歌詞情報を表示しながら音楽を再生できる。操作は液晶下部のスクロールキーで行う。
