米RealNetworksは、有料音楽配信サービス「Rhapsody」の刷新を米国時間4月26日に発表した。同日発表されたサービス「Rhapsody 25」では、ユーザーが、大手レコード会社による100万曲を超えるライブラリから毎月無料で最大25曲を聴くことができるようになった。その他にも、新しい有料サービス「Rhapsody Unlimited」と携帯デバイス向けの「Rhapsody To Go」も発表された。

Rhapsody To Goは、従来のRhapsodyがPC上での音楽再生を前提としていたものを、いま市場が広がっている携帯音楽プレイヤーの世界にまで広げることを可能にする。同サービスでは、月額14.99ドルで携帯音楽プレイヤーに無制限に楽曲を転送することができる。RealNetworksでは、To GoサービスはiriverのH10とCreativeのZen Microの2機種に対応しており、今後も対応機種を増やしていくと発表している。残念なのは、今回発表されたUnlimited、To Goサービスともに、いまのところ米国のみでの提供に限定されていることだ。
