Yahoo! Music Unlimitedをはじめとする会員制対抗音楽サービスからのプレッシャーを受けているApple Computerは5月18日、iTunes Music Store（iTMS）に新機能「予約特典」を追加した。
英国の人気バンドColdplayのニューアルバム“X&Y”は6月7日の発売予定だが、Appleはこれを予約購入できる「PRE-ORDER」ボタンを設けた。アルバムがリリースされると、予約購入者にはメールが送られ、ダウンロードが可能になる。
アルバムにはPDFデジタルブックレット、iTunes 4.8より導入されたビデオ映像（インタビュー）が付属するほか、予約特典としてボーナストラックが2曲（“Proof”と“Things I Don't Understand”）が追加される。
