オリコン、音楽配信にATRACを導入

オリコンは5月27日、ATRAC3plusの使用についてソニーと基本契約を締結したと発表した。これによって同社の音楽情報・配信サイト「ORICON STYLE」では、9月をめどにATRAC3plusを利用しての配信が行われる予定だ。

同社では、導入の理由を「ATRAC3plus形式対応のネットワークウォークマンなどのユーザーが急速に拡大したため」とし、「サービス拡大によりユーザー数や楽曲ダウンロード数の増加が期待できる」としている。
ATRAC3plusはソニーのオーディオ圧縮コーデックで、ATRAC3よりも圧縮率を高め、低ビットレートでの高音質化を図っている。
