音楽配信サイト「iTunes Music Store(iTMS)」が4日に日本国内でのサービスを開始したことに伴い、同サービスと協力している一部のレコード会社は配信楽曲の料金改定の方針を提示。これに連動し、iTMS以外の配信サービスを展開している各社では、同レーベルの楽曲の値下げされた。なお、iTMSでは100万曲の登録楽曲の内、90%の曲が150円、10%が200円で販売されている。

2005年8月4日、iTunes Music Store（iTMS）が1曲150円（一部の楽曲は200円）という衝撃の価格をひっさげ上陸した。ウカウカしていられないのが迎え撃つ国内勢。国内の配信サービスでは1曲150～270円程度、と幅広い値付けがされている。iTMSが150円、200円と価格を2つに絞ってきたことで、国内サービスでも曲の価格を改定する動きが出始めた。
